Farm Meditations
Why Mindfulness Meditation?
Mindfulness Meditation is an evidenced based practice - but this is ancient wisdom ! A practice of being in the moment & witnessing the breath. This is the perfect practice for ANY one - whether you have meditated before - or never thought of it - I guide you - in a judgement free zone - I promise, there’s no wrong way.
Why NOW?
We are in a constant bombardment of sensory overload. Our brain is constantly working. Once upon a time, we spent meditative hours collecting waters, collecting food, making food - together! Sitting around a fire, staring at the waters, staring at a boiling pot - these are meditative acts - but ones we can replicate at ANY time ANY where. Our nervous systems are telling us to slow down. Our bodies tell us with tired eyes, sore backs, anxious feelings, unsettled feelings, these are messages from our nervous system. The phone is a powerful tool , it connects us all , gives us the ability to know so much in just an instant, but it’s also a main culprit for that sensory overload. Mindfulness Meditation gives our minds a break. Doing it in a group holds us accountable (less likely to check out on our phone, or be distracted by a to do list). Provides us with a feeling of connectedness that we are longing for. It provides our minds the opportunity to LISTEN to our bodies / nervous system. YOU will learn something new about your body if you listen to it. JOY, CONTENTMENT, HAPPINESS are revolutionary ACTS in a society that profits on us being so immobilized by depression / sickness that we cannot function “without their help.” Our INNATE WISDOM, the WISDOM of the EARTH & our ANCESTORS - come tap in to it, with me!!
Why Me?
The universe is calling me to share our space with you, to share this ground and GROUNDING. I first learned of mindfulness meditation when my own healing journey began back in 2009. From 2011-2013, I studied under Michael Yellow Bird, PHD, a world renowned professor of Mindfulness and Indigenous studies, and learned how mindfulness meditation can be used in community, clinical and family settings. It was then that I received a Masters in Social Work at Cal Poly Humboldt. With mindfulness meditation, we are experiencing neuroscience, we are building new neuropathways in the brain, literally changing the way we think and feel. The Maharishi Effect suggests that just 1% of the population in meditation can raise the well-being of an entire community. Our own feelings of safety, comfort and contentment will have a ripple effect.
So here I am, inviting you, my friends, to join me on the ground. Rather than absorbing the negative energies swirling in our modern day society; the constant bombardment of bad news; I invite you to let go of your momentary worries, and absorb the ancient energies of the Earth. Let ourselves be held by the Earth and feel the weight of the world lift from our shoulders. For the first time ever, we are opening our farm as a community space to get grounded; together.
